“The Hop Devil delivers!”

"A stone's throw (literally...i've done it) from Thompson Square Park is (one) of the finest beer establishments in the city. The Hop Devil delivers! Named after the mysterious creature to spawn from hop stalks this place has an unbelievable selection that constantly rotates, a menu to match (most notably the Belgium fries next door...that wasabi sauce does the trick like Houdini!), and constant beer events to fill up this drunk's calendar for weeks on end. You can enjoy their $1 taco's on Tuesday (vegetarian ones too...which caters to this chump's diet), kill the keg on Wednesday (because they refuse to keep anything for too long they offer $3 pints all night for the keg that's....i guess....about 5-7 days old), or sign up for their beer alert to catch frequent brew nights devoted to one of many craft breweries in the US (most often the brewmasters themselves are in attendance for these events). I know, it probably sounds like I work there (and I probably would if keith'd hire me), but trust me I don't. Before I forget the staff is friendly, aware, and above all knowledgeable about beer (especially mike....when he's not traveling the world from brewery to brewery he's the man to ask for a recommendation). specifics: a Weyerbacher always on tap, complete ommengang selection in the bottles, Bear Republic, Stone, Stone Coast, Stoudt's (the Mai bock is my current favorite), Six Point, Southern Tier, South Hampton and Smuttynose (to name a few) constantly in rotation. Unfortunately I haven't' spent a lot of time in the Belgium room(just quickly ordering a cone of fries), but I'm pretty sure Kasteel, Corsendonk and Duvel are regularly on draft. Think I've said enough."

    Hair of the Dog Fred

From the Hair of the Dog Brewer Alan Sprints himself: Fred was created to honor beer writer and historian Fred Eckhardt. Fred is a big inspiration for me and many other brewers. Fred's work in all-grain brewing and beer styles helped me become a better brewer. Fred the beer is a deep golden color. It is made with aromatic and rye malts and includes 10 different hop varieties in an effort to incorporate the whole world into this beer. It has 10% alcohol by volume and 65 IBUs. We hope that Fred will inspire you to share your knowledge with others as Fred has with us. IBUs for those of you not in-the-know is, are International Bittering Units. Its how you can measure the hoppy bitterness of a beer. Fred is good. So are Adam and Ruth. Get yourself a bottle at the Hop Devil Grill. Now.
